Lukaku can score against anyone - Martinez

Everton manager Roberto Martinez hailed his
side’s response in their 1-1 draw at West Ham
and reserved particular praise for Toffees
goalscorer Romelu Lukaku.

An excellent goal from Manuel Lanzini handed the
Hammers the lead, but Lukaku – scoring in his
seventh straight game against the Hammers –
struck just before the interval to earn the Toffees
a hard-fought point .

Speaking to the BBC after the match, Martinez
said: “We allowed West Ham too much space for
the first goal, but I was delighted with the way we
responded. We kept West Ham very, very quiet in
the second half.

“The performance was terrific in terms of having
a winning mentality. I was just disappointed at the
end that we couldn’t find that bit of magic to get
the three points.”

“Lukaku thinks he is going to score against
anyone. Obviously the stat of scoring in so many
games against West Ham is a coincidence, but
what is true is that he is a positive man by nature.

“He’s still a young boy, but the way he is
developing I always think when he is on the pitch
that he is capable of scoring against anyone.”
