Lamela: I never wanted to leave Tottenham

Erik Lamela insists he has always wanted to stay at
Tottenham and would have shunned the likes of
Marseille, Inter Milan and Roma.

The Argentine forward has been persistently linked
with a Spurs exit after two disaapointing years at
White Hart Lane following his £25.8million move
from Roma.

Inter were strong favourites to sign the 23-year-old
during the summer, but having found form this
season, Lamela denies that he wanted to return to
Italy and has always been focused on being a
success at Spurs.

“Ever since I got here, people have spoken about
me leaving,” Lamela told the Evening Standard .

“They said it the first year, the second year and
now in the third.

“But I didn’t speak because there was nothing to
say. My mind has always been here at Tottenham.

“Would I have moved to Marseille, Inter, back to
Roma? No — I have always wanted to stay here and
I have always made that clear.

“It’s something I’ve said to my team-mates, to the
club, to everyone. I feel good here, I like it. I am
very happy. I feel I’ve adapted and my team-mates
make me feel at home.”
